Themba Nkosi, known as DJ Euphonik is growing his flex in fashion. The cases in point: his collaboration with Superga and an upcoming store.
Euphonik can gather crowds through his music as a DJ, but his following is expanding in fashion too. Through his design collaboration with Superga, he’s launched the ‘EUPHO 2224 Superga’ sneaker.
He does note that going into fashion wasn’t quite the plan, but his move was motivated by meeting like-minded partners while guided by the instinct of opportunity.
'With Superga it’s a natural fit. We have and target the same fan base and it’s a shoe I’ve always worn so when I had the opportunity to do something with them I took the challenge on with full force,' Euphonik tells iFashion.
This brought on a high top shoe and gives a fresh perspective of Euphonik’s lifestyle, while pushing his personal brand with the use of black and gold including his signature crown.
And if you are fashion forward, too busy to tie your shoe laces (there’s a zip option) while comfort is your priority, Euphonik is certain that this shoe will fit.
“I’m always on the road and I need a comfortable, stylish shoe with minimal yet impactful features that are easy to get in and out of.' He adds, “the last thing I want to do when I’m in a rush is to waste time with shoe laces - so the sneaker has both options.”
The shoe is currently on sale at Superga concept stores.

So where did it all begin? In the prime of his career, the Mpumalanga-born DJ made ‘Euphonik’ branded t-shirts to promote himself while playing at his gigs. Today, it is a t-shirt label called ‘House Head’ and is selling quite well through Facebook.
His growing presence in clothing seems more organic than experimental. It has also inspired a soon-to-launch store in Braamfontein, Johannesburg – a concept birthed in partnership with DJ Kent.
'Kent and I are old friends with similar interest in music, fashion and business. We did some travelling earlier this year and were inspired to open a store to showcase some of the fashion trends we are passionate about.'
Although there is no set date for the opening, Euphonik and partner are looking between end of March or April. The store will be home to perennial pieces from various brands which includes their new in-house label, Debut. And it will project much more than just clothes.
'The store is going to combine all our interests so there will also be a music element to it. Live DJs will be able to come perform and we will stock what we consider to be our top 5 house albums at any given time.'
The music element is unsurprising and will surely attract fans in their droves. However, the store will definitely be a significant space of opportunity for local labels and will also retail “special and edgy” international brands.
